In the third Part of our Series EARTH CATASTROPHES, March 2026 data reveals a staggering shift in the global risk landscape. While the frequency of disasters is climbing, it is the geographical “contagion” of these events that now presents the greatest challenge to global safety.
The New Frontier of Risk
In just one year, the global disaster footprint has undergone a massive expansion. According to ‘zerobeyond – the new frontier!’s latest monitoring, the number of nations reporting significant catastrophes jumped from 24 in March 2025 to 40 in March 2026—a 66.67% increase in affected territories.
While the total number of human greed catastrophes rose by a significant 26.76% (from 71 to 90), this growth is eclipsed by the speed at which the “disaster border” is moving. Catastrophes are no longer staying confined to historically high-risk zones; they are successfully penetrating new borders at an unprecedented rate and with ferocity. Interestingly, the highly “Developed Nations” are seen being devastated at a much larger frequencies and magnitude.
ASIA AND NORTH AMERICA: THE EYE OF THE STORM
The March 2026 data shows Asia and North America as the most vulnerable regions of the planet. Asia currently leads the global count with 33 catastrophes, followed by North America with 21. Together, these two continents account for 60% of all recorded human greed catastrophes.
The real alarm lies in the “borderless” spread of these events. In 2025, the crisis was concentrated within a smaller circle of 24 nations, including the USA, China, and India. By 2026, the list of nations has exploded to include a diverse array of new entries such as Switzerland, Egypt, Croatia, and Kazakhstan.
A PROJECTED GLOBAL CRISIS
The density of these human greed catastrophes suggests that the world has already entered a period of high vulnerability universally. If the catastrophe density observed in these 40 nations were to be extrapolated across all 195 nations, the world would be facing an estimated 439 total catastrophes in March 2026.
