Interestingly INDIA recorded an astonishing 75 Human Greed Catastrophes (main ones, the numbers will be above 150+ if all the cities are taken in account), while AMERICA registered 18 Human Greed Catastrophes in August 2025. What is interesting is that all the 36 countries listed above are the “Most Developed Nations” except a few. Yes, “Developed Nations” are paying the price for still living with their “Ancient 18th Century Drainage and Sewage Systems” in the 21st Century. I am truly ashamed how HUMAN GREED has destroyed, is destroying and will continue to destroy Planet Earth till Apocalypse arrives!

The month of September will see an increasing number of catastrophes across the world – devastating lives, cattle, houses, properties, crops, farm lands, infrastructure, precious memories and billions of dollars down in the drain – all because of HUMAN GREED CRISIS! In Part VII of the series, I had elucidated how “Dams” have become one of the most lethal weapons in flooding nations across the world, just before Punjab was flooded in India. More than 1,400 to 2,400+ Villages were completely submerged in 7 to 15 feet of water, with as many as 387,898 individuals displaced from their homes. Cattle and hectares of farmlands were completely destroyed beyond imagination. No doubt, the heavy rain played its part – but the main destruction were the direct result of multiple dams opening their floodgates to release lakhs and lakhs cu sec of excess water to protect the safety of dams.

India’s Marathwada region in Maharashtra State has had to face incessant rainfall since the 20th of September 2025. Dams were full and the authorities had to discharge excess volume of water by opening the floodgates – the results: all the low-lying areas got submerged in water. The article records more than 750 houses and 33,000 hectares of crops were completely damaged in Dharashiv District itself and 186 livestock perished. As many as 159 villages were drowned, while Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna and Beed Districts faced a flood-like situation.

The Indian sub-continent has experienced a catastrophic monsoon season this year. The destructions and the losses will cross over a trillion of dollars. Almost all the States and the Union Territories have faced devastating flooding, cloudburst and landslides since June 2025 till date. In spite of calamitous destruction, we humans do not even learn one bit to rebuild our nation to safeguard future onslaughts of the Human Greed Catastrophes. Hence, each year the same cycle of destruction continues with no respite whatsoever.

ARCHITECTURE ON STILTS – A MUST NOW!
Three years ago, I had written in the WORLD ARCHITECTS ON CLIMATE CRISIS – Part V (https://zerobeyond.com/world-architects-on-climate-crisis-part-v/ dated 18th July 2022) about how architects and urban planners should not only adapt “Architecture on Stilts” at war footing, but also should mandatorily demand-to-suggest policymakers that it should be implemented as a mandatory principle to safeguard future of already repeated-flooded-cities.

The technique is not new at all. Maybe modern-day architects and urban planners should learn something from the amazing Korowai Tribe – who has been building “Treehouses” high in the Rainforest of Papua without using even a single nail cement, brick or modern tools or technology since decades or maybe Centuries.

REBUILDING PUNJAB – zerobeyond’s SUGGESTION
The calamitous destruction in Punjab needs to rethink how villages will be rebuild again, so that never in future similar floods will be able to destroy houses, livestock and harvested crops, and above all lives of the villagers. I do hope this article will reach all the actors and singers – Punjabi and Bollywood – who have vowed to rebuild villages for the villagers in Punjab. Prominent actors Gippy Garewal, Sonu Sood, Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Wirk, Randeep Hooda, Sanjay Dutt, Ranjit Bawa and many others have promised to invest in rebuilding Punjab, so why not houses on stilts for the villagers?

Rock-solid Stilts should stand around 15 feet from the ground. The first floor should be made for Cattle – so they do not get drowned when the next floods happen. The second floor will be for the residence. This way, the villagers will be safe along with their cattle. I do know, the construction of such houses on stilts will be a costly affair – but then it will be the one-time investment for the future. Punjab has lost more than 40,000 plus billions INR in just one flood in September 2025. Two years ago in 2023 and in 2018 too, Punjab experienced calamitous flooding and destruction in the State. These human greed disasters are going to happen again and again in near future – there is no escape!

This simple one-time investment will safeguard villagers for the next coming decades and mitigate future losses by flooding. This is not rocket science, but rational thinking and acting logically by thinking about the future. Interestingly, architecture on stilts can safeguard every region across the world with simple implementation.
